Real-Time Analytics
Comprehensive click tracking, visitor attribution, device classification, and UTM campaign analytics.
Real-Time Analytics & Insights
GoLink includes a high-throughput click tracking engine that captures rich, privacy-preserving attribution data on every link click without slowing down redirection speeds.
What GoLink Tracks
For every visitor that triggers a short link redirect, GoLink automatically derives and stores the following metrics:
1. Engagement & Identity
- Total Clicks: Every successful redirect event logged.
- Unique Visitors: Tracked via pseudo-anonymous visitor fingerprints.
- New vs. Returning: Distinguishes first-time visitors from repeat audience members.
2. Device & Platform Breakdown
- Device Category:
desktop, mobile, tablet, orunknown. - Operating System: macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, etc.
- Browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Brave, etc.
3. Geographic Intelligence
- Country: ISO country code and full country name.
- City: City-level geographic attribution.
- Interactive visualization on world map cards.
4. Referrer & Campaign Attribution
- Referrer Domain: Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, Substack, etc.
- Direct Traffic: Visitors entering the URL directly or clicking from desktop apps.
- UTM Parameters: Automatic extraction of
utm_source,utm_medium, andutm_campaign.
Automatic Bot & Crawler Filtering
Link shorteners are frequently scanned by social media preview bots, search engine crawlers, and link verification agents. If counted, these artificially inflate your metrics.
GoLink uses modern bot detection (via isbot and User-Agent heuristics) to filter out:
- Social media preview crawlers (Twitterbot, FacebookExternalHit, Slackbot, TelegramBot)
- Search engines (Googlebot, Bingbot, Yandex)
- Automated uptime monitors and ping utilities
Bot visits are logged with the isBot: true flag in the database for debugging, but excluded from standard user-facing analytics charts.
90-Day Retention Policy
To maintain lightning-fast database aggregation queries and prevent unbounded storage growth, GoLink enforces an automated 90-day Time-To-Live (TTL) index on click events:
click-event.schema.ts
Summary metrics and high-level totals are retained, while granular event records older than 90 days are safely pruned in the background.
Aggregation & Dashboard Charts
In your GoLink Console, the analytics tab provides:
- Timeseries Timeline: Clicks over time (24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days)
- Top Referrers: Ranked sources driving traffic to your destination
- Top Countries: Heatmap of traffic origin
- Device & OS Distribution: Doughnut charts displaying audience technology
